Deleting your Mind Clutter account and data

This page explains how to delete your Mind Clutter account, and how to delete what you have written without closing your account.

Delete your account

In the app: Settings → Delete account → Delete everything

This is immediate and cannot be undone.

What is deleted:


Your account	Closed permanently, including your email address and sign-in
Everything on the device	Every thought, mood, check-in, streak, due date and setting
Your encrypted backup	The stored blob is deleted from our servers

What is not deleted, and why:

Purchase records held by Apple or Google. Your subscription history belongs to the store, not to us, and we cannot delete it. Cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings — deleting your Mind Clutter account does not cancel a subscription.
Ordinary server logs (IP address, time, page requested), kept briefly for security and then discarded. They contain nothing you wrote.
Text already sent for sorting. Our AI provider, Microsoft Azure OpenAI, may hold prompts for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring before they are discarded. We cannot delete those early, and they are not linked to your account once it is gone.

Delete your thoughts but keep your account

In the app: Settings → Erase all thoughts → Erase everything

This clears every thought, mood and check-in on the device. Your account, your subscription and your settings stay as they are.

If backup is switched on, turn it off first — otherwise the next sync will restore what you just erased from another device.

Before you erase: Settings → Export my data saves a copy first. Erasing cannot be undone.

Delete individual entries

You do not have to erase everything. Open any thought and delete it on its own, at any time.

If you cannot get into the app

Email support@getmindclutter.com from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. We will close it and delete your encrypted backup within 30 days, and reply when it is done.

We may ask you to confirm from that email address. That is only to make sure someone else cannot delete your account.

A note on where your writing lives

Your thoughts are stored encrypted on your own device, not on our servers. If backup is switched on, we hold an encrypted copy that we cannot read, because the key is derived on your device and never sent to us.

So uninstalling the app removes everything on that phone, and deleting your account removes the copy we hold. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
